Michael H., The Retired Fox Sports Technical Director, Scammed by Michelle LeClair
The retired Fox Sports technical director and his retired schoolteacher wife were invited to an estate planning seminar by LeClair for elderly people investing their money for a secure retirement.
It was the perfect hunting ground for LeClair to find her victims. In fact, she represented that she was part of an organization that protected seniors from fraud.
LeClair told Michael that if anything were to happen she would guarantee the money, and the return would be 15 percent for four years. Michael eventually hired an attorney and filed a lawsuit.
LeClair eventually coaxed them into investing three investments—$10,000 into Bacini Clothing, a $20,000 bridge loan for Windsor Life Settlement (with a check made out to LeClair’s Protégé Financial that she said would pay 10 percent a year) and a third investment of more than $50,000 from his 401k retirement account paid to Protégé Financial for Windsor Pictures and the movie Not Forgotten, in which she was executive producer.
LeClair told Michael that if anything were to happen she would guarantee the money, and the return would be 15 percent for four years. In November 2011, he tried to contact LeClair when he stopped receiving checks. Michael eventually hired an attorney and filed a lawsuit.
